Workshop Wednesday Transformation of Cardboard Folders

 This is my version of a makeover for Cardboard Folders for the office.  Start with plain folders. I found these at Kmart for $2 each. Bargain! Glue some music paper or other collage paper to the front of folder,  I have used #Decopage Matte Medium Choose a stencil and apply design repeatedly over the front and side of folder using Gesso and a makeup sponge. The Gesso will act as a resist for our project. Choose another stencil and apply texture paste through stencil, leave to dry. I used a Stencil Girl floral mask on this folder. Next  choose at least three/four spray ink colours.  I have used a combination of Dylusion Sprays and Kaisercraft Sprays. Keep spraying over your design in different colours, adding water with a spray bottle, allowing some colours to run into each other.  Keep the middle section fairly clear for where your inspirational words will be placed later on. "I will write Peace" Mixed Media Tutorial Try this in your art journal or on a canvas, both will have great results! This our background, to make this effect use a scraper or palette knife and apply texture/modelling paste over your background surface in random applications. Does not have to cover 100%, but at least 80%.  You want to create some texture, so don't make it too smooth!  Dry with a hairdryer. I have used a combination of colours of acrylic paints, for this project "thinner' paints work better then the heavier body brands. Using a 1" basecoating brush quickly paint in sections of your background, leaving the darker Paynes Grey colour to the bottom, as they are thin paints you can wet on wet blend the colours as they meet together. Workshop Wednesday Canvas Tutorial "Who She Really Was"

This mixed media canvas formed from the idea of finding your own identity, the butterfly symbolising the transformation journey we are all on, focusing on the belief that the journey will be worth it.  I have found when in the natural it seems impossible faith can show you how strong you have become, that you can bloom, be free and sing your own song.  You can be you! Step 1  Choose your favourite stencils and randomly apply patterns over your canvas with Gesso. When this is dry, apply spray inks over the stencilling. I have used Kaisermists. Step 2 Collage torn strips of Music sheet paper to your canvas using Modge Podge                            Step 3 Adhere tissue Paper Flowers cut from paper napkins .
